COMMUNITY ACTION: Ask Your Local Club to Support Penalty Rates for their Staff!

Clubs & RSL workers across Australia are now at risk of losing their penalty rates. We can't let that happen.

Can you ask your local Club or RSL to make a submission to the Fair Work Commission to say they DO NOT support Clubs Australia's move to abolish the current clubs award & to cut workers' penalty rates?

We've made it easy.

Just follow these 3 STEPS:

  • Download the submission letter template here
  • Email it (or take it in) to your local club or clubs
  • In your email, ask club management to please submit the letter to the Fair Work Commission to support penalty rates for their staff. Request a response from club management.

Repeat for other clubs!

*If you have any trouble downloading the template letter, please email & we'll send it to you.

You can also:

Leave a message for your local club below

Leave a message in the form below asking your local club or RSL to make a submission now.

e.g. "<insert your local club name>, Please make a submission to the Fair Work Commission to support clubs workers’ penalty rates"

No employee working in clubs or Hotels should not lose these penalty rates because they can certainly afford to pay them having pokies. I know what these clubs & Hotels make as I am an ex Hotel Manager. I believe that coffee shops & restaurants should be on a different award to clubs & pubs even if they do sell alcohol, the government are trying to fool a lot of younger people by saying it will make more jobs, what a crock. They took our penalties away in the 90s when we used to get penalty rates from 6pm till 5am which went up every hour. NO keep the Saturday & Sunday rates.

People who give up their Sundays to help us enjoy OUR Sundays deserve to be properly paid for the inconvenience. I note no MPs give up THEIR Sundays for work without being well-compensated: why then should they expect Hospitality workers to do so?

To Coolum Surf Lifesaving Club and Coolum Bowls Club. Pay your workers penalty rates. You make plenty of money out of your disgusting poker machines to afford to pay weekend rates. Your making good profits while paying penalties so why pay your staff less to increase your profits. Your disadvantaging your workers which is deplorable.

The Fair Work Commission and Politicians should be made to work weekend and nights, for $15 per hour and then tell people they are over paid.

No Club should be cutting penalty rates of its workers. I do hope the Kingsgrove RSL Club is not in this category.

Support the workers at the local clubs in Currumbin Waters, Vikings, Currumbin RSL, Palm Beach Surf Club and others keep the penalty rates to ensure those workers can have a reasonable standard of living as they provide a service to the community early mornings, weekends and nights so why take penalty rates away they need to be compensated for the unsociable hours they work
